Royal Society Townhall Meeting on Open Science

May 19, 2011 in External Meetings

Yet another chance to share our views on open data in science with an influential organisation!

The Royal Society Open Science meeting is a free discussion at the Southbank Centre in London, designed to feed into its new policy study on the opportunities and uncertainties of open science: Science as a public enterprise: opening up scientific information.

Speakers include Sir Paul Nurse PRS, Geoffrey Boulton FRS, Sir Mark Walport and Philip Campbell. Tickets are free and available by emailing sape@royalsociety.org

More details:

  • Starts: 2.00pm on 08 June 2011
  • Finishes: 4.30pm on 08 June 2011
  • Venue: Level 5 Function Room, Royal Festival Hall

Significantly, they have also issued a Call for Evidence associated with this study and welcome submissions by 5 August 2011. It would be great if the working group could contribute something! If you’re interested in helping us to formulate a submission then email me at jenny.molloy@okfn.org or come along to the next Skype meeting on 15th June 1730 UTC (more details to follow on the open-science mailing list).

You can also contribute personally by completing an online questionnaire. Key questions and full details of the call for evidence can be downloaded as a word document here.

I hope many of you are able to participate!
